Your Favorite Elementary School Books
dkohana suggested a blog topic about favorite elementary school books and how exciting it was when the Scholastic book order was delivered to the classroom.
Me, I wasn’t much of a reader. The only books I ordered from Scholastic were joke books – go figure.
But I do remember a couple of favorites from the elementary school library. Of course, The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. I always thought that the Dr. Seuss characters were so playful looking.
Another favorite was the The Five Chinese Brothers.
Remember the brother who swallowed the sea?
And other story I remember from small kid time – although it wasn’t a book from elementary school – was Momotaro. We had the book at home and again I enjoyed looking at the cartoon drawings. The peach, the baby in the peach, and the dog with the samurai armor, the pheasant, and the monkey! How cool would it be to have a monkey!
What favorite story books from small kid time do you remember? Paula mentioned one that I’ve never heard of: Ramona the Pest. How about series books, like The Hardy Boys, or Nancy Drew? Share your memories with us.
And once again – thanks for the blog topic suggestion, dkohana.
