Happy Halloween!
It’s time for the obligatory Halloween post. Are you ready?
Halloween falls on a workday (Wednesday), so are you planning on dressing up? If so, as what? Me, I start a class on Wednesday so I don’t want to show up in costume on the first day of class – so I won’t be dressing up.
Although… this past Saturday (during the tsunami), The Beat’s Disguise was going on over at the C’est Si Bon. And Paula and I did dress up for it. As soon as I can locate a picture of Paula in costume, I’ll edit this post to include it.
So, I leave this open to everyone to talk “Halloween”. List your favorite memory of Halloween. Maybe it was a certain year you went trick or treating. Or maybe it was some college Halloween party. Or maybe it was the time you and your friends went out on Halloween night to make trouble.
Remember in elementary school when we used to have to take a paper bag to school and we’d cut out the eye holes and decorate the package? And on Halloween day, our grade would have a Halloween parade so everyone could wear their package/masks to show them off.
How about listing your favorite Halloween song:
What was your favorite Halloween treat or candy.
Got any ghost stories to share? Sally loves ghost stories.
Halloween jokes!
Here’s a Halloween commercial:
So have a safe and fun Halloween and post something – even if it’s just a Happy Halloween message.
Oh, as for me – what did I dress up as at The Beat’s Disguise? he,he

Do you really want to hurt me?

Good morning MLCers
Happy Monday
Happy Halloween week
My favorite memory is Trick O Treating and getting lots of Hershey chocolates, Mr. Goodbar, tootsie rolls, malted balls, candy corn, bubble gum, lollipops, loved them all
These days we go to the movies, then to Zippy’s for dinner and try to get home late after all the trick or treaters have gone home

Dude, the eyeliner looks SOOOOOO good on you!
I went dressed to a Halloween gig as an undecided voter. Shirt was half red, half blue, wore a construction paper hat with question marks on it. I love this Halloween gig because our arranger/leader adapts regular songs so that they’re Halloween appropriate. And I never thought I’d have to learn “Psycho Killer” on `ukulele, but man, is it fun to play.

Halloween in our office is mandatory dress up and no one knows what the other is going to be wearing. Then the boss takes us out for Halloween lunch.
Halloween is serious business at our office.

I love creative costumes… like Rodney’s. Some people spend so much $$$ on store bought stuff that shows no imagination. Best costumes I see every year are worn by Uncle Rodney / Aunty Paula and Yoshi and his wife.

This is not really a ghost story but an experience i had that I think about sometime. This past June I met a little boy in the water at Magic island, he must have been around 3. I was concerned that no adult was with him so I asked him where his parents were. He just gazed at me and never answered. He was swimming around and under my sup board but never touched or tried to climb on it like other kids do. He would run off and than come back around me but would not talk to me, there was something about his gaze though. It got dark and he was still running around the beach and water. By that time there was no one on the beach. I could see M waving me in from the other side of the beach. I kept watching the boy and he seemed to be gazing out into the ocean. Finally I decided to go in. To this day I wonder if the boy was just a victim of negligent parents or was he a spirit of a child that had drowned in the past.

This past October I visited Alcatraz in San Francisco. The last time I went there many years ago I remember it being an eerrie place. I could feel the opression as soon as the boat approached the island. There were a few cold spots in the main building. That whole place is just creepy. Now that I took M to see it, I don;t think i’ll ever go there again.

I didn’t feel creepy at all at Alcatraz for me and didn’t feel any cold spots. It was very interesting seeing and learning the history of the place.

when i was in the ninth grade, my friends and i had a halloween party. the night before halloween, we walked to the market, along the road makai of vineyard, where the mortuaries are. on our way back, one of my friends was joking around about ghosts, right when we were in front of the mortuary. we glanced inside and saw an open casket! we all started screaming and ran all the way home!! it was pretty funny when we got back when everyone was trying to act like they were the brave one! lol.

Halloween in the country in our days was..sparse
Houses were far apart and some streets had no lights.
So we used to go to better places like Ahuimanu, Temple valley, and Kaneohe. When people gave us fruits we used to throw them
back on their roofs. Chocolate was like the gold of candies…
Then theres the hard ones my least favorite. Once we got slim fast instead of candy. Da nerve…Cash and McDonalds coupons was always good. Paperbag was not good to hold candy on rainy nights as we learned. I was wondering why my bag would not get full. I left a trail of candy from the hole

I love halloween, my favorite time of year getting dressed up. I like to make my own costumes too if I have the time. When I was young I wanted to be a bride used to sell the dress n veil which I thought was cool. Dress up tomorrow I am one half of the nerd candy.
@masako- the story you shared reminds me of one similar to to a friend of mine which happened last year. She was walking back home and crossing thru the park when a little girl about 9 followed her. There was some conversation and then my friend was walkin thru iolani hall and the girl appeared again. It was getting dark and my friend also wondered where her parents were. Suddenly she turned around and the girl was gone. And this friend of mine does see ghosts…

My daughter works at xyz company in abc valley. It is a 24 hr company so she works every shift there is. It is no secret that the place is haunted, but they rest assured that it is Mr. S, who was the founding owner. At least they hope so, because he is seen sometimes in back of the bldg.
The workers have many stories. Here’s one.
Her coworkers told her about how one night they were on shift in the office and saw a sheet of paper get picked up from the fax machine as though someone was holding it by their fingers. Except no one was near the machine. They watched this sheet of paper get “carried” across the room to the picture window, get pressed to the window, and slide down.
They called the manager, who is connected via remote security camera to her home. She reviewed the surveillance video and yup, there it was caught on vid.

I was at home and I live way up in the valley. I just stayed home, no need to go out to add to the traffic mess. I always have lots of bottled water, can goods, rice, propane for my grill, toilet paper and vehicles always gassed up. My boss texted me so I was on standby and if there was major damages, I would report to work at first day light.

My room mate can see and communicate with spirits. Often when I have a restless night sleeping he will tell me about a ghost running around the apartment.
One night my cats were extra restless/noisy/rambunctious. My room mate said it was a little blond hair boy with the blue eyes playing. The little boy kept going into my room mates room and waking him up.

Another night I went to sleep early. My room is by the lanai. My room mate was in the living room and saw an old man looking into the door. Not doing anything, not trying to come in, just looking in through the door. I woke up and saw something on the lanai, but the living room light was still on. I went into the living room and asked him what he was doing on the lanai. He never goes out there…. He said it was the old man I was seeing.

When my cousin’s wife passed away, she visited me. I only met here once before and did not remember what she looked like.
I had a dream about this woman in a red muumuu standing at the foot of my bed. I was in my room except everything was white. I kept asking her if she needed help. She would not talk and just smiled and shook her head.
The next morning my room mate asked me about a woman who he saw. He described her and I told him she was in my dream, but did not know who she was.
Later when I went to my cousin’s wife’s funeral they had a slide show. There was an older picture of her standing in a red muumuu…..That was her in my dream. She had lost the ability to talk before she passed. I guess that is why she only shook her head. She did not know she could now talk.

I used to live in a tall building on the top floor. One afternoon I decided to take a nap. I woke up because it sounded like someone was knocking on the window outside.
I got up and decided to email by brother. The only thing I wrote on my email was “oogieeboogieewoogiee” After he got the email he immediately called me.
He said he was taking an afternoon nap and had a dream that he was sneaking up on me to scare me, but I turned around and scared him. He woke up feeling all scared and nervous. I asked him when it happened and he said it was the same time I had my dream.
So, then we call our sister. Ask her if anything weird happened to her lately. She tells us she was sleeping in the afternoon and heard someone calling her name. And, it was the same day and time my brother and I were taking our naps.

Years ago I had a kitten from the Humane Society that needed to be fixed. He was our only cat at the time. I dropped him off one day at the Humane Society and he stayed overnight.
Usually he sleeps with me and would wake me up in the morning by either purring really loud in my ear, or pawing at my face. The morning he was gone I woke up to a cat’s purr in my ear. When I realized my cat was at the Humane Society getting fixed, I woke up fast.
On a side note. When I went to pick him up, they had a blanket over the front of his cage and he was not a happy camper. Usually they do not let the owners go in the back, but he would not let anyone near his cage. I went up to the cage and he was growling in the back. When I called out to him, snap, he as sweet and meowing. All the workers were in shock. “That was not the same cat” they kept telling me.

TRAFFIC!!!!!!!
Took me almost 2 hours to go home when it usually takes 30 minutes. I doesnt take that much to mess up traffic in Hawaii.
One truck into a median or over pass.
No kids came at all…they was stuck in traffic I guess.
If its not the usual rain its the traffic now.
